The first shipment of bowls I received had a couple of broken bowls....Amazon quickly sent me replacements. They are good bowls but a bit small and a bit expensive as well. I would recommend them but there are some larger bowls at Pier 1 that are a bit cheaper.

These are one of the best products i have bought in years. The Quality is amazing. It is good to finally Find a functional Plastic bowl that has the high Quality Plastic. These little bowls are useful for serving juicy things like beans that you don't want swimming all over the other items on your plate. They are fairly small, but as others pointed out, it forces you to control portion size. My only complaint is their fragility. While they were packaged well and arrived undamaged, I managed to chip the edge of one of them when I placed it in the drying rack. It was my fault, but I would have expected a little more resiliency given the fact that it wasn't like I dropped it on the floor.

I bought these bowls for my wife because she does a lot of cooking that requires many small ingredients to be added at different times. She uses these bowls like prep bowls, putting each spice or ingredient in a bowl so that she can quickly add it to her recipe whenever it is needed. The handle also makes for a great way to grip the bowls when adding the contents to a dish. I would definitely recommend these bowls to anyone who gets frustrated with recipes that call for spices added with precision timing.

Very beautiful glass bowls. Small and I bought them to prep spices/herbs etc in the kitchen. The little handle is awesome for handling, althought I wish they poured liquid a little better. They aren't great for pouring small amounts of oil into a salad dressing or anything like that, but they are fine for everything else.

They may seem a little small to some, but as the other reviewer stated, they are great for portion control & will hold about a half a cup. The little handle is what really sets these apart from other custard bowls & makes them so easy to handle. During shipping one of them had a tiny chip on the edge, but the rest were in perfect condition. I sanded the chip & now the cat eats in style. Another positive is that unlike most other dishes these clear glass ones are free from toxic lead.

These dipping bowls are handy to have around for lots of uses. They are made of thick, durable glass, so they work great to warm things in the microwave, they do not break easily, and they are easy to grab. I use them for ingredient prep bowls, used tea bags, small servings of cottage cheese, or keeping a small bowl of sunflower seeds nearby for a small snack. They are great for portion control or keeping wet side dishes from leaking all over your plate. They are worth every penny!

These are really slick looking. You need to wash them a few times to get the "stain" smell off, but they are really nice looking!!! Putting them in the microwave will kill these though. That wasn't obvious to me initially, and I ruined 1 of the bowls.

Frieling, in my experience, makes the finest in stainless products. I have bought their French press coffee pot and their tea pot, so I, of course, wanted the sugar and creamer set to match. Their quality is matchless. I purchased an extra sugar bowl for sweetener and a tray from All Clad. What a classy looking set. Everything can be put in the dishwasher. It has a beautiful shine to it and goes with any set of dishes. I have received numerous compliments. I have learned that if you buy something good once, you will not need to replace it. Buy something that is not of quality and it will not hold up over time and will cost more over the long run in replacements. Frieiling stainless sugar bowl, creamer, French press coffee pot and teapot all match in their beautiful design and are dynamite, quality products. Amazon's price is terrific.

We purchased this set because we have an evil cat who's broken both a china sugar bowl and a glass one. Would definitely recommend and purchase again.
Pros:
- Expensive-looking w/shiny exterior and brushed metal interior.
- Works in both dressy and casual settings. Probably not for really formal stuff, though.
- The handle on the creamer may look a little dinky in the picture, but it's actually comfortable to hold/use.
- Creamer is the right shape to use for steaming milk on an espresso machine.
- Seriously, the cutest sugar ladle ever, and the shape is such that you don't ever accidentally use it to stir your coffee.
Cons:
- Sugar bowl opening is about 3.5 inches wide - makes it tough to fill the bowl using a regular measuring cup without making a mess. Or else I'm a giant klutz, which is also a clear possibility. Easily avoided if you use a funnel or something with a spout to fill.
- One of our guests had a problem getting the sugar ladle back in the bowl - you can't just push it down into the sugar like you might do with a teaspoon. But she'd had a long day and was probably not entirely with it at the time. No one else has had a problem with it.
Random info:
- 1 heaping sugar ladle = 1 teaspoon (an actual teaspoon, not a teaspoon measure)
- "10 ounce capacity" per the product description means 1 cup in real life.

I have 2 sets of these bowls and 3 of the larger 7.5 QT bowls. I love the color they look amazing but I have had 2 of them break. I had one of the large 7.5qt bowls break almost in half. I pulled it out of the cabinet and it was broken, I have no clue how it happened. Then the Green one from this set got a crack in the top rim of it. I had read some reviews warning not to use in the microwafe so I DID NOT! I did however put them in the dishwasher a few times. I contacted ZAK and told them of my disapointment and they did replace the green bowl for me after I submitted photos. They also warned me against puting them in the dish washer. I still love these bowls and use them almost every day! but I now hand wash them ONLY!

This is a great bowl, especially for those of you like me who are rough on your bowls when your loading the washer. This would be great for a soup or any type of single food serving. These are not deep enough to do any mixing in, but they are wide enough which enables them to hold a nice size portion of food. They are more elegant than they appear in the photo and can be matched to a wide range of dinnerware. Recommended.

These are nice bowls, just the right size for serving veggies with dinner (i.e. if you microwave a bag of frozen corn, you can dump it in the bowl for serving.) Very safely packed for shipping - however, one of my bowls did have a slight blue mark on the edge (probably a quarter of an inch - I don't think it happened during shipping, as there wasn't anything blue in the box). Not bad enough for me to return it, I'll update the review if I am able to get the mark off using a Magic Eraser sponge, or similar.

Simplicity, it can be a really good thing. A plain simple white wide bowl, is elegant and always correct. These are beautiful bowls. The form is just about perfect, wide and shallow. Any food placed in these bowls looks wonderful. With plain white dishes, the focus is always on the food and not the embellishments around it. The bowls feel good in my hand. They have a certain solid weight to them. They are not flimsy bowls. The bowls are marked lead free. The website description says they are microwave and dishwasher safe, and my testing says they are just that. They are not marked on the bottom microwave and dishwasher safe. The glaze is uniform. There are very small places on the bottom edge that are not glazed, but that is probably from the rack they were sprayed on during manufacture. The theory behind the heft, it will hold heat better and your vegetables or low heat food, will stay warmer longer. That is a nice theory. The only reason I don't love these bowls, they are a bit on the pricey side. On the other hand, they are serving bowls, and you don't need 500 of them. The Crate and Barrel or Ikea versions are all much thinner ceramic and less expensive. If you don't mind a slightly pricey bowl, these Tom Douglas bowls are a winner. I've posted some pictures. The bowls are a bit smaller than I imagined from the product pictures. The shipping box is super duper industrial, the bowls should never chip or crack in that box.
May 24, 2010 update - after using these bowls for some time now, I love these things. They are well worth the price. They feel great in your hand, food looks fantastic in them, and they really do work with keeping food warm. The form is impressive.
August 29, 2010 update - every single time I use these bowls I think about how much I've come to love them. They just feel fantastic in my hand, the weight, the form, and the size. This is one of those things, buy the best you can afford. These really are the best.

This is a good set of bowls. They are heavy and sturdy. They also claim to be chip resistant. They are made by Homer Laughlin and are lead free. The diameter is about 7.5 inches bt are not too deep. I use them to put fruit in the center of the table or to serve food. They are nice bowls but not inexpensive.

Can it be true? Safe, durable, fun, easy to use - all in one product? I couldn't believe it but yes it is...My kids love eating out of these fun-colored bowls - and I can use them every day because they are BPA-free. I looked a long time for good, dishwasher and microwave safe bowls for soup and stew. I like a larger bowl, so I don't have to fill it to the brim, and these bowls fit that perfectly. They're labelled "5 cup" but really hold a little over 4 cups, which still leaves plenty of room for a couple of cups of soup. The yellow is a bit more gold in real life, and this blue is less baby blue, and more of an aqua, but they're both attractive. The rubber on the bottom means they don't slide around, and the thickness will pleasantly surprise you. You might think "these are a little expensive for plastic bowls," but the the quality is really worth it.

Yup, these bowls are a little pricey. But, if you are tired of bowls that get so dang hot when you put them in the microwave and you can't pick them up.... you'll pay. And the special edge of these bowls, it does keep the food in, like when you microwave oatmeal. and there is a rubbery lip on the bottom of this bowl too -- keeps it from sliding and moving when you put it down. They clean great, in the dishwasher or by hand. They are durable. And the color goes with my other dishes. Love 'em. Delivery was quick. We'll get more.
