A removable vented grate rests at the bottom of the main bowl to allow the coldness of the ice to bas through the salad above. The grate also acts as a functional drainer to keep salads from getting soggy. Te attractive dome lid keeps cold air in and bugs out. Clear lid and iced salad items save me a lot of hassle and steps, so I like this item, but why did they make the spoon holes in the lid so big? They're about 2" long by 3/4" high, and the yellow jackets just love 'em! Next time I use this bowl I think I'm gonna tape over those darned holes.

I bought this bowl for outdoor picnics and parties. The day of the party the it was 90+ degrees. My potatoes salad stayed cool for about 2 hours before I had to add ice. Great buy!

I purchased this to serve salad at my Niece's Graduation Party. The salad looked beautiful and the ice in the bottom kept the salad cool and crisp. I had several compliments on the bowl from the attending guests. It was also great to serve salad and not have to worry about bugs and flys getting on the food. I would purchase this product again if the need arises and I would sure recommend it, as I am very happy with the quality and the beauty of this product.

Love this salad bowl. It is well made although if you dropped it on a tile floor it would crack. Keeps the salad nice a cold for many hours. Great for entertaining.
